This is the result of my first Stash Bee Quilt Block exchange, a year-long quilting project that brings together 11 people from across North America. Each of us was assigned a month, during which we were Queen Bee — we gave instructions for a block, up to 16.5″ square, that each of the others would make for us. On the […]
Flying Geese Quilt
Polaroid Quilt
I was part of the Third Block Swap on Reddit recently, and just finished one of two polaroid quilts! This one is for my granddaughter. Participants in the swap were organized in groups of 12, and we each made 48 basic Polaroid blocks, fussy cutting novelty prints into the subjects of the photos and then framing them with white. We […]
Coral Stars
Coral is my favourite colour and I wanted to play with some wonky stars, so I’m working on this new quilt! It’s scrappy, because I had just bought all kinds of coral fabrics and couldn’t wait to deploy them. I played with a little sketch (which doesn’t do justice to just how scrappy this is going to be) but I […]
Old Muscat Souk quilt started
I love this cheerful and simple pattern by The Nomadic Quilter, and have started my own version. The fabric is largely drawn from Stacked Fabrics sold-old Wren fat quarter bundle. The background is Peaches and Cream by Colorworks for Northcott, a very pretty millennial pink.
Bauhaus quilt
I wanted to make a quilt for a friend and her husband selected “Bauhaus” out of the style inspiration options I gave him. I started with a sketch in prequilt.com and then made blocks to follow along with it, roughly. Being ale to compose on the design wall is a game-changer. I cannot overstate how amazing it is to look […]
Thrive Quilt finished!
Oh, yeah! It’s time to clean up those unfinished quilts! This was the lovely Thrive Quilt, which I worked on as part of Suzy Quilts’s QAL last fall. I made it a lap quilt — a little bigger than the listed baby quilt and smaller than the full size throw. I got the top all done except for one strip […]
January Project Quilt finished
It’s done! Basted on my design wall, and quilted with a combination of walking foot straight lines along the blue portions and free motion quilted squiggles of various descriptions in the low volume squares.
January Project Quilt – basting
In an effort to clear up some unfinished quilts, (and to procrastinate about bigger projects I need to finish) I’m going to finish off my January Project Quilt. I had all the blocks finished, so I sewed them together into the quilt top which measures about 72″ x 72″. And, for the first time, I basted a quilt using my […]
Cat Block Pillow
I wanted to make something fairly quick and fun today – so I picked Elizabeth Hartman’s free Cat Block Pillow for Janome, which has lots of room for scrappy piecing. For the pillow, you make 10 cat faces and then trim each to 4.5″ wide by 5.5″ high. Then you piece the pillow top together, trim it up and you’ve […]
Baby Quilt done!
It’s all finished! First quilt of 2021 and the smallest and simplest quilt I’ve ever made. 49 5″ squares alternating between black and white (mostly Pen and Ink) and bright colours (all from Tula Pink’s All Stars), simply quilted.
