Oh, yeah! It’s time to clean up those unfinished quilts! This was the lovely Thrive Quilt, which I worked on as part of Suzy Quilts’s QAL last fall. I made it a lap quilt — a little bigger than the listed baby quilt and smaller than the full size throw. I got the top all done except for one strip (and I even pieced the back and made the binding) but it has languished in its box ever since.
So I pulled it out, sewed on the missing strip, basted it on my design wall and then set about quilting it.
It’s for a very dear friend of mine, and I hope she won’t mind that I practiced some funky ribbon candy FMQ stuff on it. Okay, in places it’s SUPER funky, like it was quilted by a 4 year old, but it’s DONE! The rest of the quilting is walking foot straight lines, which I feel very comfortable doing at this point, so it’s not ALL funky.
I came to put on the binding and I was missing about 8 inches – (that’s what she said) – argh! But I actually found a scrap of the same fabric in a fairly random bin and it made me so happy!
