After half a year quilting on my tiny but gallant Kenmore (6.5″ throat!) I got myself an early birthday present 🙂
It’s a brand new Janome Memory Craft 6650 and it’s taking some getting used to — it’s amazing how much an extension of ourselves our sewing machine becomes. This new machine has my entire wish list of quilting machine wants: auto needle up/down, wider throat (this has 10 inches!) and a knee lift. It’s all a bit daunting but I’m determined to make the switch. It’s a shame I didn’t have it to finish off the appliqué zig zagging for the Thousand Oaks quilt, but that means the next appliqué quilt I do will benefit. The first project I worked on on this machine is making nine patches for my Moon Gazing Hare quilt.
