A dear friend and admired artist and artisan recently gave me three bags of beautiful cotton fabric and her large hand quilting frame! I’m so very grateful for her kindness, so I’ve decided to make a small throw quilt for her, using some of her fabrics and to hand quilt it!

I’m going to make a Carpenters Star for her, because she is, in addition to all her other talents, a gifted woodworker. I’m using this method, and doubling the base unfinished square size from 2.5 inches to 5 inches. This will give me a 37″ square quilt to which I’ll add a 5″ border.
